Sirocco blows through Düsseldorf and Frankfurt
Manchester Collective and Abel Selaocoe bring a musical storm to Germany.
"Sirocco" is a hot wind from the south, blowing from the Sahara towards the Mediterranean - there is no better way to describe Manchester Collective's project with Abel Selaocoe. The diverse programme shows the connections between African and European music, between throat singing and Händel, between African percussion and traditional Eastern European folk songs.
At the beginning of June, upon invitation by the Schumannfest, visitors to the Tonhalle Düsseldorf enjoyed this musical melting pot, followed by an extraordinary "away game" by the Alte Oper Frankfurt, which took place in a tram depot belonging to the local transport company, receiving praise by audience and press alike.
We're looking forward to the upcoming Sirocco tour in November 2024:
