The Scottish Ensemble made its debut at Rheingau Music Festival in July 2026, with two very different projects. The first, on 10 July at Theater Rüsselsheim, was Goldberg Variations – ternary patterns for insomnia, a collaboration with the Swedish dance company Andersson Dance. Johann Sebastian Bach’s celebrated Goldberg Variations became not only audible but also visible, as music and movement merged into a captivating multidisciplinary performance that offered fresh perspectives on the Baroque masterpiece.

Just two days later, the ensemble appeared at the Lay Dormitory of Kloster Eberbach alongside sitar virtuoso Jasdeep Singh Degun and tabla player Harkiret Singh Bahra to present Classical Meets India. In a vibrant dialogue between Indian and Western musical traditions, they created richly textured soundscapes full of rhythmic energy, improvisational freedom and moments of deep reflection.

On both evenings, the performances were met with standing ovations from the audiences, while the press responded with equal enthusiasm.
