To Antarctica with treppenhausorchester

Philharmonie Essen (30.11.25), Elbphilharmonie Hamburg (01.12.25) and Kieler Schloss (30.01.26) were transformed into Antarctica for one evening: with the live audio drama “Dark Room – A Polar Concert in the Dark”, Treppenhausorchester musically transported the sleep-mask-wearing audience on the perilous race to the South Pole between Roald Amundsen and Robert Falcon Scott. Narrators Timmo Niesner and Martin Kautz brought the two explorers back to life, while the ensemble, together with saxophonist Asya Fateyeva, underscored the story with works by Philip Glass and the Boulanger sisters.

The audiences in all three cities expressed their appreciation for this adventurous journey with thunderous applause, and the Hamburger Abendblatt summed it up: “That was supposed to be a concert? The word is too weak. It was: an experience.”

The Hamburg Journal and the Schleswig-Holstein Magazin also reported on the extraordinary concert.
