Cologne In Motion

With its new festival “In Motion,” the Kölner Philharmonie dedicated an entire weekend to exploring the connection between music and dance. And who could be better suited to this challenge than our innovative ensembles?

On 29 October 2026, the Scottish Ensemble captivated audiences with its project “IMPULSE,” in which the musicians themselves remained in constant motion, choreographing and visually bringing to life Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings through their movements.

The festival concluded with the Treppenhausorchester and its production “DISCO,” where dancing was especially encouraged in front of the stage. Thanks to the programme’s infectious rhythms and driving beats, getting the audience on their feet was no challenge at all.
